Divine Delay

He makes all things work together for our good.   No, He said for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)

We're in church, studying through the book of John.  This day we are looking at chapter 11.  Lazarus, the one Jesus loves, is sick.  So sick he dies.
Jesus knew he was sick.

When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” (John 11:4 NIV)

Then He stayed where He was for 2 more days.  He delayed.

Now we might be called procrastinators, especially if we'd waited 2 days to do something important.

His timing was perfect.  His purpose was clear.  He seemed to be ignoring the call to come.

There is more to waiting than just the wait.  For those who love Him, for those called to His purpose.

Those people wait knowing they are not alone, their greater good is vested in His  greater purposes, they wait sharing in the work of Christ on earth.

Bear in mind, the Lord's patience means salvation. 2 Peter 3:15

Oh, how He loves us.

Lord help me be mindful of your purposes in this wait.

Inspired by what our pastor, Brett Burleson @ Dayspring
taught this morning.
He co-authored Praying The Gospel Of John, and we are studying it together as a church.  Hope you'll check it out.
